Plunge XL – For Sale
Good condition. Well taken care of.
Local pickup in Central Texas (in or near Austin).
I received the Plunge XL in May of 2022 from Plunge.com to create a review.
Since then, it has been kept in a covered outdoor space and well-maintained and cared for. It has also been at two private homes belonging to my friends.
You can check out my review here:

What is Included?
- XL Large Acrylic Tub
- 1 HP Chiller (cold only 39F – 75F)
- Pump (upgrade)
- Commercial Hair Trap (upgrade)
- Heavy Duty Power Supply (upgrade)
- Spa Ozone Generator
- Insulated Lid
- Net for skimming
Original Retail Price $6,990
Note: The UV lamp was removed. Plunge stopped using them about six months after I received this unit because they were a hassle to maintain and clean, and did not provide any additional benefit over the ozone.
How Cold Does it Get?
When placed in a shaded area, the chiller can get the water down to 39 – 41 F in moderate temperatures, and 41 – 43 F during the brutal summer months if kept in the shade.
Additional Items Included
- Replacement 1 HP Chiller ($1,495)
- Manual Spa Vac ($60 new)
- Inline heater with temperature controller for those rare few days when it drops below freezing ($46)
Power Requirements
You’ll need a 15-amp 120-volt outlet, and it’s best to have a dedicated circuit. The power supply in the unit has a built-in GFCI.
Replacement Chiller
This is the original chiller that came with the XL. Plunge initially used Active Aqua chillers and modified them to work outdoors. The replacement cost out of warranty was $1,695. They have now transitioned to new custom-made chillers. The basic 1/2 HP Evolve Chiller sells for $2,499, and the 1 HP Evolve Pro Chiller sells for $4,349. A new stock 1 HP Active Aqua Chiller (which is not weather resistant) sells for around $1,200.
How did I end up with a spare chiller?
Shortly after the initial setup, the power cord was damaged. Plunge sent me a new chiller and never asked for this one back. I have kept it in storage in my garage since then. I installed a replacement plug and have tested it for the last two weeks. It works fine. It has run for less than three weeks total. Here is a picture of it connected to a tank for testing.
What’s Not Perfect?
There are only four things to know:
1. One of the four straps buckling the lid to the exterior tub came off. With modest sewing skills, it can be reattached.
2. The light doesn’t work.
3. Some of the magnets holding the equipment cover came off. The cover still sits in place, and the brackets for the magnets are still solidly in place. If desired, new magnets could be glued in place.
4. The acrylic tub has some slight scratches on it. They are only surface scratches caused by people at the first location (where the review video was done) not wiping sand off their feet before getting in. They do not affect the tub’s durability and it has been fine for the last 2+ years since it was removed from that location.
Where is it located?
The Plunge is currently hosted in Menchaca, near FM 1626 and Bliss Spillar Rd.
